These documents represent the filing system of Maximilian Metzger during his period as Secretary General of CERN. They cover all activities of the Director-General's office: Directorate Services (DSU), comprising the former Directorate Services Unit and Education and Technology Transfer Division, and the Safety Commission (SC). The DSU files concern relations with services including: Administration, Legal, Internal Audit, Press Office, Education, Scientific Information, VIP Visits, Translation, Technology Transfer and External Relations (Host States, Member States, Non-Member States, Observers, European Commission, EIROForum). The files also deal with medical applications, Open Access, the conference of the role of science in the information society (RSIS), the LHC inauguration (21 October 2008) and the VIP Days organized for this event, various visits, minutes of group leaders’ meetings, correspondence with management, administration, budgets and personnel matters including recruitment.
