Personal residence of Werner Beusch

This series contains correspondence between Beusch and various universities such as ETHZ, some from stanford university and Basel University that are research institutes and colleague such as Jean Pierre Blaser.
Most of his correspondance letter where Beusch was sometimes in copy with professors Jean-Pierre Blaser, but some correspondances was with Fraulein M. Allemann who was J-P Blaser secretary.

The correspondence between Werner Beusch and Jean-Pierre Blaser was about the renewal of the Venia Legendi (the Venia Legendi is a license to give lectures at universities like for ETHZ as Werner Beusch used for), letters of recommendation for students (Restricted) and some correspondence about his project the OMEGA.

The correspondence also includes proposals for student exchange semesters at CERN.

Biographical note on Jean-Pierre Blaser

Jean-Pierre Blaser (1923-2019) was a Swiss physicist who founded the Swiss Institute for Nuclear Research (SIN) in 1968 and then became a director from 1969 to 1987. However, the Swiss Institute for Nuclear Research (SIN) and Eidgenössisches Institut für Reaktorforschung (EIR) merged to create the Paul Scherrer Institute in 1988, he then became the first director of the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI). He also worked at the Eidgenossichen Technische Hochschule Zurich (ETHZ) as a professor of Experimental Physics from 1959 to 1990. He died in 2019.

CERN, ETH Zürich and Imperial College London collaboration

CERN, ETH Zürich and Imperial College London are among the world’s leading scientific institutions, and their collaboration played a key role in advancing particle physics. In the 60s and 70s, these institutions joined and contributed to the design and construction of the Omega spectrometer, one of the most revolutionary tools of its time. This partnership did not end with the construction of the spectrometer, it continued with major research effort, with CERN and ETH Zürich forming one of the most significant collaborations of that time. This collaboration is important for CERN success.
