On 21st March 1973, at its hundred-and-twenty-sixth meeting, the Finance Committee of CERN proposed that a restricted Working Group be set up by the Finance Committee, consisting of five or six pension fund actuaries, who should include the Fund's own consultant actuary together with representatives of the Administration, the Pension Fund management and the staff. The groups task was to examine and report upon the present situation of the Fund and upon the proposals of the Directors-General, and to recommend to the Finance Committee the actuarial basis upon which the Fund should in future be managed. The Group should be under the Chairmanship of a Finance Committee member.
